The TPS51980A PMU Power Supply Controller IC (commonly designated as U7200, U7500, or U7000 in Apple schematic diagrams) is a dual-synchronous step-down (buck) controller chip. It plays a pivotal role in generating primary standby voltage rails across various Apple MacBook logic boards.
When a MacBook suffers liquid damage, power surges, or failure of the main standby rails (such as PP3V3_G3H or PP5V_S3/S5), replacing the faulty TPS51980A chip is the standard micro-soldering solution to restore power to the logic board.
